A homeowner's guide

What dock restoration costs, and why

A dock's appearance alone does not tell you the scope of the work. Cost follows what needs attention and how the work can be done.

An existing floating dock, with a replacement section in place.

Size and the work underneath

The overall size and number of sections shape the amount of work. Surface wear is different from frame or connection repair, so we look beyond the decking before putting a price in writing.

Replacement sections and hardware

The number of replacement sections built in our shop is part of the scope. Hardware replacement also matters: we document the connections and fasteners that need attention rather than assuming the same work on every dock.

Water access, distance and timing

Access by water and the distance to the structure affect delivery and the work plan. The schedule and tide windows are also considered when planning the job.

A written scope before work

Every job gets a written scope, materials, price and schedule before any work starts.
